A Pair of Randoms:

(1) Why is it called "Dance Dance Revolution". Why not just "Dance Revolution". Are two 'dances' really necessary?

(2) Returning from my friend's 30th Surprise party yesterday, I wondered why surprise parties seem to be the standard on significant birthdays. 30th, 40th...etc. Part of the challenge seems to be really making it a surprise because everyone knows that right?

Why not other numbers? You never hear of a surprise 27th birthday party. You never see banners and balloons in stores boasting:

"Happy 34th Birthday!!"

Why is that?

I actually tried to find an answer for you regarding "Dance Dance Revolution" and found nothing.
But the game did originate in Japan... maybe it's just a language barrier thing?

As for the birthday deal, I have no ides why that is. We should start breaking the mold and having really kickass parties for the most random birthday years.
